Sweaters for Dragons Designs, the Sweaters for Dragons Podcast, and the Sweaters for Dragons name are all the brainchildren of Eric M Hinsch, a.k.a, KnittingDragon.
Eric M Hinsch is a knitwear designer
specializing in men’s knitwear, lace, and fine knits. His patterns,
current designs, and designs-in-progress may be found on his website
at
http://designs.sweatersfordragons.com and on Ravelry (http://www.ravelry.com).
Eric also exhibits at fashion shows in Michigan’s Upper
Peninsula. Please check his website for a list of upcoming shows.
In addition, Eric is beginning the process of
creating knitted art based on the translation of colors into knit
stitches. Although these pieces are not yet available for public
consumption, photographs and exhibit announcements will be available
through his blog at
http://www.sweatersfordragons.com.
Eric has chosen yarn as his medium for its
versatility and variety. From wool spun in the grease to novelty fun
fur, the varieties are endless. Yarn can be made to symbolize or
resemble many things. As he stated about one of his pieces,
“Although the yarn is soft and pliable, [the] piece evokes the
carved and stratified walls of a rock canyon.”
After 17 years in Information Technology, Eric
has decided to follow his dream and is now working toward a Bachelor
of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in Fiber Arts at Finlandia
University in Hancock, MI. It is a good thing he has plenty of hand
knits around! Eric is looking at graduate schools in the Northeast,
Pacific Northwest, and Canada.
Eric was born in a cornfield in Fort Wayne, IN.
Not really, but there was a cornfield not far from the hospital. He
moved to Indianapolis, IN where he resided for 16 years until 2010
before moving to the beautiful, and often cold, Keweenaw Peninsula
in northern Michigan, where he currently resides.
